Campitello di Fassa

Campitello is a typical village of Trentino dominated from the wonderful dolomitic faces of the Sassolungo. It is crossed by the brook Ruf de Duròn, coming from the homonym valley. It is an important winter and summer resort; from Campitello the lifts lead to the ski slopes of the Col Rodella, on foot of the imposing dolomitic group of the Sasso Piatto, making possible numerous connections with the ski slopes of Pass Sella. In summer it is possible to make lots of excursions.
The Val Duron, placed between the group of Sassolungo and the other one of Catinaccio, is the starting point of walks and trekking  towards the numerous mountain restaurant sand lodges. The valley is also interesting for its geography, geology and botany.
On high, on the left bank of river Duròn, there is the church of Ss. Filippo and Giacomo (1525), the only one of the Val di Fassa to have the belfry tower-shaped. The church has Gothic lines and some 15° century frescos on the southern face.
Over the village is located the small centre of Pian, a typical Ladin village, with its brick masonry houses and the wooden hay-lofts.
